Ductless Air Conditioning Systems

Ductless, mini split-system air-conditioners (or mini splits) are used in home, businesses, and institutional buildings. One common application is to retrofit houses with “non-ducted” heating systems including hydronic (hot water heat), radiant panels, and space heaters (wood, kerosene, propane).


These units can also be very effective for room additions and small apartments where installing ductwork (as for central air or heating systems) is not feasible.  Like central systems, mini splits feature two main components -- an outdoor compressor/condenser and an indoor air-handling unit. Conduit links the indoor and outdoor unit housing the power cable, refrigerant tubing, suction tubing, and a condensate drain.

A ductless mini-split air conditioner is easier to install than a central air conditioning system.


A ductless mini-split air conditioner provides zoned air conditioning without ducting.


A ductless mini-split air conditioner is relatively easy to install and does not provide an entry point for intruders as some room air conditioners do.
